Brenda Joyce Watty was born in Baltimore, Maryland and began singing in Gospel Choir at a young age. She moved to NYC to study voice and join other musicians in the music business. Brenda studied under the direction of June Monterio, a nationally recognized vocal coach.
After her studies she began to sing with the girls group The Toyswhich had the hit song “A Lovers Concerto.” Brenda, now discovered, began performing with The Marvelettes which had the hit song “Please Mr. Postman.” Her career started to blossom and she went on tour with additional groups including; The Temptation, The Four Tops., The Crystals, Bo Didley, Ricky Nelson of the Ozzie And Harriett show, Desmond Wilson of the Sandford and Son show, and many more.
Ms. Watty, now is in Sarasota, Florida traveling and performing in her one Women Show “It’s My Time”,as well as, singing with various local groups in the Jazz, Pop, Dance and R & B genre.
In 2018 she released her Solo Album “Its My Time”with the hit single “Girls Night Out.”
During June, 2019 Brenda returned from performing in Europe after promoting her solo album there. She was showcased at Midem Festival at the Cotton Club in Cannes, France. Presently, she is rehearsing her band: Brenda Watty & Her Peeps for a US tour, continuing to perform in concerts and country clubs.
I love performing at any venue- large, small, Corporate or Country Club- I have played them all and enjoy every moment of it.
Brenda Watty has been in the music industry for over 30 years and has a unique sound of Jazz, R and B, Motown and Low Fi.
